Owen Leroy Long, son of Clyde and Ruth McNealy Long, was born Nov. 11, 1938 at Hartville, and departed this life on Sep. 4, 2020 at his home in Hartville, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 24 days.

On Sep. 5, 1956, Owen married the love of his life Beulah Robertson in Mansfield, and they loved and took care of each other happily for 63 years and 364 days. They were one day short of celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary, Beulah said, “He just couldn’t live one more day with her!”

Owen worked for Austin Brothers Construction for 15 years before he started dairy farming; he dairy farmed for 27 years with his wife. Prior to retirement, he owned and operated Long’s Ozark Mountain Moulding and Doors for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah; his children, Roger “Rod” Long and his wife, Joyce, and Marcie Long, all of Hartville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Donnie Long and his wife, Cathern, and Ronnie Long, all of Hartville; a sister, Betty Whipple, of Lebanon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Brenda Delcour. Owen lived his entire life at Hartville, with the exception of a few years in Arkansas working construction.

He worked hard, loved his family and was a faithful Deacon of the First Baptist Church Hartville. He was an excellent handy man, with a bulldozer, backhoe and wonderful woodworking skills; perfect for helping add an addition to the Little Creek Church at Hartville, which he faithfully and selflessly did and enjoyed doing. Owen dedicated a lot of his time and service to his church. He was a member of the Little Creek Cemetery Board and the former Brushcreek Township. Owen enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening and farming, but most of all, he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa, brother, uncle and dear friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories he created. Memorial to St. Jude’s Hospital through Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville.
