Norwood Pirates win second straight Cabool Classic

Feeding off the energy from their supporters packing the gym for the championship of the Cabool Classic, the Norwood Pirates kept their composure when their six point lead with 43.1 seconds left was trimmed to just one point with 12.2 seconds remaining.

Fortunately, the Pirates were able to get the ball to Garrett Davault, who was fouled and hit two free throws with 5.1 seconds left on the clock. Galena was unable to get a shot in at the buzzer and the Pirates celebrated with their fans a Cabool Classic championship.

“The atmosphere helps you to win a district championship, which is our goal,” said Norwood head coach Shane Chadwell. “We had some of our ‘6-7-8’ guys step up and hit big shots. They stepped up.”
