Norwood leads early but later falls to Cabool by 20

For most of the first half, the Norwood Lady Pirates gave a 12-win Cabool team all they could handle in a rescheduled 4 p.m. game last Friday.

Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away in the third quarter and never looked back in a 66-46 win over the Lady Pirates.

Norwood opened the game with a 7-0 run to take a 9-2 lead behind five points from Cassie Chadwell.

Cabool responded with an 8-0 run as they led by three points heading into the second quarter.

Chadwell paced the Lady Pirates before halftime as she eight of the team’s points behind one 3-pointer and five free throws.

The Lady Bulldogs though hit three 3-pointers to take a 10-point lead into halftime.

Cabool added a 10-0 run in the third quarter and cruised their way to a 20-point win.

Norwood’s offense turned the ball over 21 times in the loss and shot just 25% from the field, making 12-of-47 shots. They did hit 14-of-19 free throws.

The Lady Bulldogs took 66 shots in the win, making 25-of-66 or 38%. They also made 7-of-9 free throws.

Chadwell led Norwood with 27 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Cassie Wright added 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals for Norwood. Keyera Cornelison tallied seven points, eight rebounds and three assists; Sierra Cornelison had two points, seven rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist; and Hailie Hall had one block and one rebound.
