Norwood baseball now 7-1 after wins over Seymour, Billings

The Norwood Pirates baseball team hosted Seymour last Thursday night and knew they would need to play a solid game to get a win over the Tigers.

Fortunately, the offense managed to score six runs on seven hits as the Pirates held on late for a 6-3 victory.

Norwood scored at least one run in the first five innings.

Garrett Davault led the Norwood offense with two hits, one RBI and one run scored while Zack Black had two hits and one run scored. Dylan Calhoun, Brayden Wehrer and Jalen Drake each added one RBI. Six different players scored one run in the win.

Jacob Sinning tossed four innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks. Davault tossed three innings of shutout ball and allowed just two hits with five strikeouts.

The Pirates also picked up a 9-5 road victory over Billings when they scored three runs in their final at-bat to seal the victory.

Josh Bradshaw had a home run with two RBIs and one run scored while Wehrer added two RBIs. Both Toby Cottengim and Sinning had one RBI and one run scored.

Bradshaw tossed the first two innings on the mound and allowed no runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Drake tossed five innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

Norwood is now 7-1 on the season.
