Norris wins Mountain Grove race

In recent weeks, the Mountain Grove cross country program hosted their own race and also competed in Nixa.

In their home race Sep. 28, runners enjoyed competing on a new course as the race was moved from the local golf course to over in the area between the elementary school and football field. The race ended on the track with music being played from the press box.

The Lady Panthers scored 32 team points, finishing second just behind Hartville’s 23 points.

Macey Penner paced the Lady Panthers by finishing second with a time of 22:30.73. Abigail Fry was 16th (26:19.50), Haylee Proctor was 22nd (27:12.36) and Lily Hines took 25th (28:49.76).

The Panthers were third place overall with 83 points, finishing behind Hartville and Cabool.

Senior Andrew Norris relished the chance to compete on the new course as he won the race with a time of 18:07.49. Brayden Hensley was 10th (20:01.34) and Trenton Harker took 21st (21:13.54).

In Nixa, the Panthers placed fifth as a team in a meet featuring several large schools.

In Class 1-3, Norris placed fourth overall with a time of 17:30.80. Hensley was 16th (19:12.30).

Penner led the Lady Panthers by placing 11th overall with a time of 22:28.70. Hines was 27th (24:43.90).
