Norris and Penner qualify for state

The Mountain Grove boys and girls cross country teams had some success in the Class 3, District 2 race this past weekend in Clever as two runners have moved on to the state championship race this Saturday in Columbia.

The Lady Panthers were led by Macey Penner, who qualified for the fourth time in her career for state after finishing the race with a time of 20:56.05.

Other runners participating for the Lady Panthers included Lilly Hines (23:51.89), Abigail Fry (25:01.77), Haylee Proctor (26:04.88), Kimberli Busalaki (29:31.05), Taylor Hicks (30:35.47) and Samantha Peterson (30:37.19).

The team finished in seventh place overall.

On the boys side, Andrew Norris will return to state after placing ninth at districts with a time of 17:12.02.

Other runners for the Panthers include Brayden Hensley (19:50.97), Trenton Harker (20:12.69), Owen Nelson (21:07.43), Ethan Norman (22:20.17), Trent Homer (24:00.49) and Kent Taylor (25:29.71).

As a team, the Mountain Grove Panthers finished in ninth place.
