Norman G. Curran

Norman G. Curran, 97, of Mountain Grove, departed his life on earth on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at the Autumn Oaks Caring Center. He was born on Oct. 28, 1924, near Greensburg, Ind., the son of Earl and Isabelle (Stevens) Curran. Norman spent his childhood in southeast Indiana and worked on several neighboring farms as a teenager. He would tell stories about driving teams of horses and mules while working on the farms. He met his wife, Helen B. Bonaire, in 1947 and they were married in 1948. They settled on a small farm in Indiana and raised their four sons.  They moved to Missouri several years ago. Norman had worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Ohio Valley Carpenter’s Union until he retired. He enjoyed telling stories of working on smoke stacks and cooling towers at power plants in and around Cincinnati, Ohio. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen. He is survived by four sons, Norman, of Ava; Gary and wife, Cleo, of Mountain Grove; David, of Mountain Grove; and Rodney and wife, Lori, of Oxford, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Norman had a very outgoing personality and always had a joke to tell. He will be dearly missed by many.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m, Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at the funeral chapel, funeral  services will be at 11 a.m. with Charles Sliger officiating. Pallbearers will be Norman Curran, David Curran, Gary Curran, Rodney Curran, Donnie Curran and Corey Finch.  Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
