New coach takes over Lady Panthers program

Posted

One season ago, the Mountain Grove girls basketball team ended their tough season by dropping 11 of their final 12 games to finish the year with a 6-17 record.

This year’s Lady Panthers’ program will be led by new head coach Jimmy Lincoln, who comes to Mountain Grove with a 24-year coaching career and a 437-235 overall record.

Though Mountain Grove lost three starters to graduation, they do have several key returning players led by Reagan Hoerning. Hoerning was an honorable mention All-Conference selection a year ago after averaging 10 points per game. She also led the team in rebounding.

Addy Welch also returns with her 6.8 pointers per game and she is known for her defensive skills.

Other key returners includes athletic guard Macey Penner, Destiny Caldwell, Campbell Welch, Jozey MacPherson, Kaily Wake, Summer Yarger and Taylor Hicks.

Key newcomers include freshman Raylee Stenzel, Payton Harker, Landry Golden, Erika Penner, C.J. Hines, Eve Virtue and Chicago, Ill. move-in Jada Nehles.

Lincoln said he’s looking forward to the season and is hoping the team’s work over the summer leads to success.

“I feel that we will get better as the year goes on,” Lincoln said.
