Nadine Lucille Hurley was born July 9, 1932, in Plato, to John and Opal (Williams) Lee. She passed away on Jan. 16, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was 88 years, 6 months and 7 days of age. Nadine married the love of her life, Johnnie James Hurley, on May 10, 1952. Two children were born to this union. She loved to read, garden and take care of cattle until they moved to town in 1987. When she wasn’t helping with farming, she and Johnnie owned and operated the DX station and Sinclair Station and Grocery in Manes. She also worked at Brown Shoe Factory, Best Western, HD Lee, McDonald’s,and Casey’s during her lifetime. She often was a babysitter for several children while their parents worked. Her favorite past time was caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always welcomed them with open arms and snacks. Nadine was saved when she was 16 in a revival with the Rev. Everett Bryant at Manes Baptist Church during Christmas 1948. She was among 27 others that were saved that night. She attended Manes Baptist Church since that date. She was faithful to read her Bible every day. Besides her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Hurley; brother, Darrell Lee and his wife, Betty; and infant sister, Juanita Lee, and son-in-law, Richard Kildow. She is survived by her son, Johnnie “Jimmie” Hurley, Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Manes; daughter, Lindilee Kildow, of Mountain Grove; grandchildren, Julie Ladendorf and her husband, Kurt; Kimberley Crabtree and her husband, Mike; Sherrie Cooper and her husband, Brian; Jammie Hurley and his wife, Megan; great-grandchildren, Ivie Shelton, Matthew Hurley, Katie Crabtree, Emily Hurley, Sydnee Crabtree, Kensi Ladendorf and many more family and friends who will miss her. Visitation for Nadine Hurley was held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Manes Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at 2 p.m., also at the church, with the Rev. Michael Wade and Pastor John Mitchell officiating. Song selections were “Have You Been A Friend To Him” sung by Joe Wright, “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You” sung by Travis Hathaway and “Sheltered In The Arms Of God” sung by The Key Family. Jammie Hurley, Kurt Ladendorf, Brian Cooper, Mike Crabtree, Matthew Hurley and Larry Robertson served as pallbearers. Bill Key and Edwin Wade served as honorary pallbearers.  Burial was in Evening Shade Cemetery, Manes, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
