MSHSAA sets district assignments

The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) announced new classifications for several fall sports that affect Wright County’s four school districts.

Football

In football, the Mountain Grove Panthers have moved up from Class 2, District 3 to Class 3, District 5.

While Ava (4-2) is also moving up with them, the Panthers (2-4) new district opponents include Buffalo (4-2), Clinton (0-5), Eldon (1-4) and Osage (2-4).

Volleyball

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers volleyball team moves from Class 3, District 11 with programs like Logan-Rogersville and Marshfield and will now be in Class 3, District 10. Their new district includes Ava, Liberty (Mountain View) Salem and Willow Springs. Mountain Grove was selected to host the district tournament.

Fall Softball

In Class 1, Norwood is still in Class 1, District 1. While Couch is no longer in their district, the newcomers are Naylor and Neelyville. The district’s other teams include Bakersfield, Dora and Van Buren. Van Buren is the host team for the district.

As for Hartville and Mansfield softball, both teams have changed from Class 2, District 11 to Class 2, District 2.

While they remain together and are joined by nearby Seymour. The new teams they will be facing include Belle, Dixon, Iberia and Laquey. Hartville has been selected to host the district tournament.

Fall Cross Country

The Norwood cross country program is in Class 1, District 5 and will be joined by Calhoun, Climax Springs, Dadeville, Fair Play, Greenwood, Humansville, Lakeland, Macks Creek, Marion C. Early, Niangua, Plato, Walnut Grove and Weaubleau.

Class 2, District 5 features local teams Hartville and Mansfield. They will be joined by Cabool, Conway, Hermitage, Houston, Licking, Pleasant Hope, Seymour, Skyline and Stockton.

Mountain Grove is in Class 3, District 5 with Ava, Buffalo, Eldon, Fair Grove, Liberty (Mountain View), Osage, Strafford, Versailles, Warsaw and Willow Springs. All three district races are hosted by Hermitage High School.
