Mountain Grove track shines at SCA meet

The Mountain Grove boys and girls track and field program earned several South Central Association (SCA) titles and team points in the conference meet.

Macey Penner led the squad as she won the 800 meters (2:34.81) and the 1,600 meters (5:49.56).

Penner also teamed with Katie Jarrett, Jozey Sharp-MacPherson and Kailyn Wake to win the 4x400 (4:35.54).

Sharp-MacPherson won the 100 meters (13.21) and second in the 200 meters (28.42).

Jarrett was fourth in the 800 (2:57.12).

Freshman Kailyn Wake had personal bests in her three jumping events. She won the triple jump (9.96m), second in the long jump (4.8m) and third in the high jump (1.50m).

Just missing team points was thrower Alina Alluisi, who was ninth in the discus (14.2m) and ninth in the shot put (6.58m).

As for the boys program, Hollen Glenn earned All-Conference honors by taking second in the 400 meters (54.60). Glenn also teamed with Gus MacPherson, Clayton Walker and Ethan Norman to take third in the 4x100 (46.51).

Andrew Norris was third in the 800 meters (2:15.95).

In the 1,600 meters, Dale Shaeffer was fifth (5:30.74) and Haden Colson was eighth (5:39.99).

Glenn, Norris, Norman and Walker were second in the 4x400 (3:44.39).

The 4x800-meter relay team of Trenton Harker, Ethan Boswell, Shaeffer and Norris was third (9:36.08).

Deveyn Martin, Glenn, Norman and Walker were sixth in the 4x200 (1:43.64).

In the 3,200 meters, Owen Nelson was seventh (13:09.97) and Shaeffer was eighth (13:19.79).

Taron Hammond was eighth in the long jump (5.03m) and the triple jump (10.68m).

Walker just missed a top eight finish by taking ninth in the 100 (12.16). Also taking ninth were Boswell in the discus (28.24m) and Tyler Sheppard in the shot put (11.25m).

Before that meet, the Panthers took part in a meet at Southwest Baptist University that featured around 40 schools.

Penner was second in the 800 meters (2:27.66) and third in the 1,600 meters (5:26.88). Wake took seventh in the high jump (1.4m) and Sharp-MacPherson was seventh in the 100 (13.36).

The lone top eight finish for the boys came from the 4x100 (46.85). Runners included MacPherson, Glenn, Walker and Norman.
