Posted

The Class 3, District 5 bracket is set and the 3-6 Mountain Grove Panthers football team find themselves playing at least one more home game this season.

Mountain Grove will be hosting the Clinton Cardinals, who are winless at 0-8, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

Clinton has been outscored this season, 459-75.  They are averaging less than 10 points per game and have been shutout three times this season.

In fairness to the Cardinals, six of the teams they played against were at least three games over .500. Their lone loss to a team under .500 was a 45-0 defeat at the hands of Excelsior Springs.

With a win, the Panthers will be matched up with No. 2 seed Ava on the road on Friday, Nov. 6. If they can get past the Bears, they will face the winner of No. 1 seed Buffalo and their contest with either Osage or Eldon. Buffalo is 7-2 on the season while Ava is 5-4. The Bears are coming off a 38-6 win over Willow Springs. Before that victory, they lost to Cabool on the road, 34-18.
