Mountain Grove crushes Clinton, 67-8, in districts

A Class 3, District 10 semifinals match-up with rival Ava is now set after the Mountain Grove Panthers football team easily dispatched of Clinton at home last Friday night in a first round victory, 67-8.

The Panthers, who lost 14-0 to the Bears way back in week three, will travel to Ava on Friday, Nov. 6 for a 7 p.m. contest.

With a victory, Mountain Grove would face the winner of Buffalo and Osage in the district title game one week later.

In the win over a winless Cardinals team, the Panthers’ defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns and had six sacks in the big 59-point victory. Mountain Grove was up 61-0 at halftime as they had 354 yards of total offense while the defense held the Cardinals to minus 39 total yards in the first two quarters.
