Michael Joseph Leggins

Michael Joseph Leggins, son of SGM George and Eleanor (Fritinger) Leggins, was born Jan. 22, 1959 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and departed this life on June 6, 2020 at his home in Ozark, following an extended illness. He was 61 years old. Michael grew up as a military kid, living in several location throughout his childhood including Germany, Ft. Detrick, Md. and Mountain Grove, where he later graduated high school in 1978. Michael joined the Army following high school and was stationed at West Point, N.Y. He married Kathy Kuster on Dec. 1, 1979, in Mountain Grove. Two children were born of this union, Lisa and Benjamin. Michael worked a few jobs in his young life including A&W and maintenance for the Mountain Grove Apartments before becoming disabled at a young age. In later years, Michael enjoyed fishing, camping, snorkeling, hiking and anything else that would get him outdoors. He was an avid learner of history including anything to do with the Civil War. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, parents and siblings.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents; a baby sister; and a granddaughter (Angel Marie). He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Long, and husband Dustin of Hartville; one son, Benjamin Leggins, of Mountain Grove; his parents, SGM George and Eleanor Leggins, of Clermont, Fla.: two brothers, CW3 Ronald Leggins and wife, Bobbie, of Hollister; and Richard Leggins, of Branson; one sister Debra Leggins, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two grandchildren, Caleb and Ashley Long; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Michael will be missed by all who know and loved him.
