Memorial bench to honor Frazee

Posted

A fitting tribute to Mary Ann Barker Frazee was added to the historic town square on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The polished granite bench with Mary Ann Frazee’s name engraved on it was placed facing the north entrance to the square. It has a direct view of the newly planted evergreen tree and the rose bed. To its left is the recently reroofed bandstand.

Engraving on the bench recognizes Mary Ann as co-author of the Panther Fight Song written in 1950 and still proudly in use today.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Mary Ann was also an avid historian of local and American history. She could be found honoring our veterans at every opportunity.

A dedication ceremony is planned for the spring and is sponsored by the Central Arts Council and the Mountain Grove Alumni Park Foundation.
