Mary Elizabeth Mast, daughter of Levi and Ella (Troyer) Miller, was born Feb. 16, 1945 in Goshen, Ind. and she departed this life on July 6, 2021, at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 20 days. On Nov. 14, 1962, Mary was united in marriage to Ervin Mast and to this union three children were born and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Scott Anthony Mast; two brothers, Alva Ray Miller and Vernon Miller; and a sister, Wilma Louise Mast.
Survivors include her children, Brian Mast, of California, Mo., and Debbie Johnson and her husband, Lance, of Grovespring; two grandchildren, Blake Anthony Johnson and his wife, Bethany, and Kaleb Scott Johnson; two brothers, Orva Lee Miller, of LaGrange, Ind. and Levi Miller, Jr. of Colorado; a sister, Ruby Marie Stutzman, of Nappanee, Ind.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Indiana. where she met and married Ervin.
In 1974, they moved to White Pigeon, Mich. for a few years. In 1977, the family moved to the Oden community of Wright County and later moved to the farm near Grovespring, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Mary was a member of the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ.
She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers, writing and receiving letters.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Shaddy Cemetery in Grovespring with Minister Mike Mahan. The escorts were family and friends.
The final resting place was in Shaddy Cemetery. Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville handled the arrangements.
