Posted

Marvell Grace, daughter of Tommy and Causby (Anderson) Kirkland, was born Nov. 27, 1936, at Howard Ridge, and went to be with her heavenly Father Nov. 17, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Mountain Grove, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 83 years, 11 months and 21 days of age. Marvell went to grade school at Victory and went to high school at Dora. She was united in marriage to C.C. Grace, and to this union, one daughter, Debbie, was born. Marvell was saved at Victory Methodist Church in Vanzant, and was baptized by Ike Dixon in Fox Creek. She was very strong in her faith, reading and studying from her Bible daily. She was anxious to tell anyone that the Lord was what had brought her through her seven years of cancer treatments. Marvell didn’t know any other thing except work and she loved it! She was always busy doing something. She loved being outdoors and mowing her lawn or working with her flowers. She also loved to take any kind of seed and start something from it. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, cross stitching and reading westerns. She also always had the Douglas County Herald beside her recliner. Marvell was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Kirkland; her mother, Causby Wheat; her step-father, Roy Wheat; her brother, Bob Kirkland; and her sister, Pauline Gasperson. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sloan and husband, Rex; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends that will miss her dearly. No services are planned at this time. Cremation was under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences:  www.craighurttfuneralhome.com.
