Marjorie (Margie) Coleen Sowers, 78, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at her home surrounded by those she loved and loved her most. She was born May 29, 1943, in Macomb to the late Jessie McIntosh and Tom Hopper. Margie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Walter Ervin Sowers, on Sep. 30, 1960. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1997. Margie worked for Mansfield Head Start for 40 years before her retirement in 2011. She loved every little child she had the privilege to teach. She was the most kind, loving, Christian woman you could ever meet. She loved going to church, teaching her Sunday school class, and being the song leader at Norwood Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her pets, gardening, and traveling with her friends, but her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Wally Sowers and wife, Becky; her daughter, Linda Kensinger and husband, Tom; one grandson, Corey Kensinger; three granddaughters, Megan Davis (Kyle), Rachel Bailey (Dakota) and Lindsey Kensinger (Zach); five great-grandchildren, Cooper and Lucy Davis, McCoy and Cordell Bailey and Andi Barnes; and one sister, Donna Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sowers, and her brother, Harold Kingsland. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at 1 p.m., at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mansfield, Missouri, with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Macomb Cemetery, Macomb, Missouri, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home-Mansfield.
