Margaret Ann Gregory, 91, of Springfield, passed away at 8.22 pm on Aug. 15, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was born May 28, 1930 in Mountain Grove to Lyle and Josephine Clary. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University. She married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Gregory on Dec. 27, 1953. Throughout the years, she worked as an accountant, bank clerk and fine jewelry clerk. She retired from the Greene County Circuit Clerks office in 2008. If you asked her about her “favorite job,” she would respond “mom and grandmother.” She taught us to give of ourselves and always help others. She lived out her words by volunteering with Camp Fire Girls, PTA, homeroom mom, band mom, snack crew at VBS and Springfield Little Theatre Guild. She volunteered and raised funds for the American Cancer Society- Relay for Life and the ALS Association. She supported her grandsons throughout the years by attending countless basketball and baseball games, soccer matches, theatre performances, tennis matches and choir concerts. She was “mom” and “Granny/ G-Money” to so many.  She loved to watch sports with her family. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan even when they weren’t good! If you had a question regarding Arkansas or Mizzou sports she could quickly tell you who they play, when they play and what channel they were on. Her grandsons would get a text after each Chiefs, Razorback and Mizzou games with her opinion of the game. Sunday night dinners were a special family time. Everyone knew to be at Granny’s at 5. Her door was always open with food and love to share. The Fourth of July was always special as well and she wanted everyone to feel invited and included. She treasured the time with family, friends, and her grandsons’ friends. “Granny” absolutely adored her great grandson Gannon and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his brother this coming November. She always made sure to have the bowl of peanut M&M’s full for Gannon when he would come to her house. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Lea Ann and Jim Nacy, and Lynda and Kevin Moore; four grandsons, Trent (Jayme) Moore, Walker Moore (fiancee Raygan Sylvester), Weston Moore and Michael Nacy; great-grandson Gannon Moore; brother and sister-in-laws, Jesse and Aletta Gregory, Kay Gregory, Joan Meigs; and brother, Gene Clary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gregory, and grandson, Stephen Nacy; and many, many loved ones. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
