Mansfield, Hartville CC run at state

In the Class 2 state championships held Friday, Nov. 6 on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, both the Mansfield and Hartville cross country programs had several athletes battle large fields of runners for All-State honors.

Mansfield cross country runner Skylar Adams earned her spot on the All-State team after finishing 14th overall in a field of 163 runners with a time of 21:15. Her finish helped the district champion Lady Lions finish 10th overall in the team standings.

Logan Jones ran for the Lady Lions and finished in 66th place with a time of 23:48.10. Caige Henry finished in 126th place (26:00.60) while Lauren Jones was in 129th place (26:07.0), Hailey Nelson took 147th (27:35.10), Chloe Lemons was 156th (31:23.90) and Trinnity Davis was 158th (31:39.20). The Lions’ lone runner, Brady Corder, finished in 81st place with a time of 18:48.20.

The Hartville Eagles finished in eighth place overall in the boys team standings.

Bryce Coday had the best run for the Eagles as he was 22nd overall with a time of 17:24.70. His finished gave him All-State honors.

Josh Bettendorf was 46th in a field of 168 runners with a time of 18:08.60. Other runners included Josiah Bettendorf finishing 73rd (18:40.30), Keegan Kirkpatrick in 85th (18:54.90), Jacob Ballard taking 105th (19:15.70), Weston Williams in 116th (19:28.30) and Caleb Long in 122nd (19:32.60).

The Lady Eagles’ lone runner, Clemmie Taylor, was 24th overall with a time of 21:59.20 as she too earned All-State honors.
