Mable Tetrick

Posted

Mable Tetrick was born Oct. 26, 1931, on the family farm, daughter of Rass and Carrie (Long) Coffman. She passed from this life on Nov. 18, 2021, at her home following several months of declining health. She was 90 years and 23 days of age. Mable was the oldest of 13 children. She attended Morning Sun School and graduated with the Class of 1949 from Mountain Grove High School. On July 12, 1952, she married Harry Tetrick in Mountain Home, Ark., after his return from Korea. The newlywed couple settled in Iowa for the next 17 years. One daughter was born to this union. They longed to return to the Ozarks and purchased a farm in the Owens neighborhood and moved back “home” in 1969. In 1980, Harry was injured in a farming accident, and Mable lovingly cared for him in their home for the next 18 years. In 1989, they left the farm and moved to Mountain Grove. Mable enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and going to casinos. She loved to dance, call square dances and hear a good fiddle tune. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and stayed active as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed time spent with her grandson and his wife, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Harry (1997); son-in-law, Doug Carroll (2007); her parents, Rass and Carrie (Long) Coffman; infant sister, Ruby; brothers, Dean, Gean, Farris, Francis, Harold, and Darold Coffman; brothers-in-law, Hattress, Haskell, Hazel, Narvil and Kimon Tetrick; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis and Valley Tetrick. Mable is survived by her daughter, Shirley Carroll, of Mountain Grove; grandson, Jason Carroll and wife, Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Preston and Kennedy Carroll, of West Plains; brothers, Larry “Buck” Coffman (Sharon), of Hartville; sisters, Dottie Perryman, of Raymondville; Donna Carlson (Sam), of Brooksville, Fla.; Patsy Hamilton, of Mountain Grove; Darlene Bradshaw (Glen), of Norwood; sister-in-laws, Deborah Croney, of Seymour; and Ima Griggs, of Marshfield; brothers-in-law, Hase (Glendoris), of Brixey; Windle (Katie), of Trail; Ferd (Nita), of Dora; and Dwight (June), of West Plains; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
