Langley no-hits Central, Mansfield wins Senior Night

Posted

The keys to any softball team winning a game is solid pitching, a good defense and timely hits by the offense.

The Mansfield Lady Lions had all three last Monday when they crushed Springfield Central, 15-0, behind an 11-hit attack and Megan Langley’s no-hitter on the mound.

Langley tossed four innings of no hit, shutout softball and had five strikeouts.

“Megan threw well today,” said Mansfield head coach Aaron Gray. “She pitched ahead in the count, didn’t try to do too much and let her defense work behind her.”

At the plate, the Lady Lions scored five runs in both the first and third innings and never looked back in the big victory.

Ashlynn Heil paced the Lady Lions with four RBIs. Madlyn Ivy added two RBIs and two runs scored; Chloe Lemons scored four runs; Trinnity Davis had one RBI and three runs scored; Tyra Lansdown added one RBI and two runs scored; while Morgan McGuire, Maddie Coble and Langley each had one RBI.

Meanwhile, the defense made no errors in the win.
