Mountain Grove head girls basketball coach Vallie Hoerning will tell you that it’s been some time since her Lady Panthers were able to defeat Hartville in a contest.
On paper, this year’s game appeared it could go the same way as it has in recent meetings between the two programs. Hartville was riding high from a championship game appearance in the Scallywag Invitational while the Lady Panthers managed to get just one win from that tournament.
Well, Coach Hoerning’s Lady Panthers proved they will be a local team to reckon with for the rest of the season when they knocked off the Lady Eagles, 43-40, on Senior Night.
In the classic definition of a total team effort, all eight Lady Panthers scored in the victory.
