Entering a big rivalry week with games against Cabool and Ava, the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers were hoping to get some needed momentum.

Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers found themselves on the other end of two double-digit losses.

On Thursday at home against Cabool, the Lady Panthers opened the game with two Raylee Stenzel 3-pointers and one from Kaily Wake. Cabool responded though with an 11-0 run to end the quarter and never looked back in a 70-58 victory.

The Lady Bulldogs took advantage of trips to the foul line in the second quarter, making 6-of-9 to push their lead to 12 at halftime.

Mountain Grove went 1-for-8 from the field early in the third quarter, but rallied late with a 7-0 run to trim the lead to seven points

The Lady Panthers would have a 10-4 run go into the fourth quarter to make it a five point game when two Cabool 3-pointers took away their momentum.

In the loss, Stenzel scored a team-high 19 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist. Reagan Hoerning added a double-double of 14 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one assist.

Jozey MacPherson nearly had a triple-double as she tallied nine points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Landry Golden tallied five points, four rebounds and one assist; Campbell Welch had five points, four steals and one rebound; Destinie Caldwell added three points, two rebounds, one block and one assist; and Wake had three points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Against the Lady Bears, Ava jumped out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and did not give Mountain Grove much of a chance to get into the game with a 58-35 victory.

The Lady Panthers were unable to score more than eight points in the first three quarters before rallying late with a 18-point fourth frame.

Hoerning led the Lady Panthers with 13 points, Stenzel added 12, MacPherson added three points and Caldwell scored two points.
