Lady Panthers continue to roll, honor seniors

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers volleyball team entered this week’s districts riding a two match winning streak.

On Senior Night Oct. 12, the Lady Panthers gave their seniors the proper send-off by beating Salem, 3-0. Mountain Grove won the first set, 25-20, before crushing the Lady Owls in the second set, 25-8. They then held on for a 25-23 third set victory. The match was also held during a Pink Out event. The seniors honored included Claire Nelson, Tory Thompson, Addy Welch, Claire Felker and Manager Peyton Owens. Two nights later, the Lady Panthers traveled to Mountain View and left with a 3-1 victory over a 20-win Liberty squad. After falling in the first set, 25-21, the Lady Panthers rallied to win the final three sets, 25-23, 26-24 and 25-16. Mountain Grove is the No. 1 seed in the Class 3, District 10 Tournament that they host this week.

The Lady Panthers will battle either Willow Springs or Hollister at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 in the semifinals. A win gives the a Monday, Oct. 25 championship match against either Forsyth or Ava.
