Lady Panthers beat Gainesville

Mountain Grove’s defense forced 24 turnovers on Friday night as the Lady Panthers cruised to a big, 54-33, victory over a struggling Gainesville team.

In the first quarter, Jozey MacPherson’s 3-pointer was part of an early 6-0 run. Raylee Stenzel had six points while Reagan Hoerning scored five points to give the Lady Panthers a 14-6 lead.

In the second quarter, Mountain Grove had a 14-0 run sparked by two MacPherson 3-pointers. She finished with three in the quarter. Stenzel had five points in the second to lift Mountain Grove to a 29-10 halftime edge. Gainesville turned the ball over 17 times in the first half.

Hoerning scored six points and Campbell Welch had five in a low scoring third quarter.

Up by 19 heading into the fourth, Welch helped the Lady Panthers pull away with three, 3-pointers. Mountain Grove would go on to make 19-of-56 shots from the field in the 21-point win.

Welch scored a team-high 15 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist while Stenzel tallied 14 points, six steals, five assists, two rebound and one block. Hoerning scored 13 points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assists; MacPherson had 12 points, six steals, three assists and one rebound. Kaily Wake added three assists, two steals and two rebounds; Landry Golden had two rebounds, one steal and one assist; Taylor Hicks had two rebounds and one assist; and Destinie Caldwell had one rebound and one assist.
