The Mansfield Lady Lions volleyball team just continues to get better in its first season back as a program since the ‘90s.
Over the past couple of weeks, they have picked up five match victories to move their record to 6-15 on the season.
After they defeated Koshkonong for their first win of the season, they extended their streak to two matches in a row with a 3-0 win over Couch. Mansfield won 25-22, 25-14 and 25-14.
In the Licking Junior Varsity Tournament, Mansfield beat Dixon, 2-0, after winning 25-12 and 25-19.
They also knocked off Salem, 2-0, after winning their sets, 25-12 and 25-20.
On Sep. 28, the Lady Lions won their first home match by beating Koshkonong for a second time this season, 3-0. In the match, they won the first set, 25-13, before clinching a classic second set win, 30-28. They won set three, 25-14.
Mansfield had their second winning streak of the year when they traveled to Bradleyville and left with a 3-2 win.
They were up 25-23 and 25-19 before losing the next two sets, 25-22. The Lady Lions sealed the fifth set, 15-10.
During recent weeks, the Lady Lions did have shutout losses to Conway, Houston, Licking and New Covenant Academy. They did have a 2-1 loss to Willow Springs.
