In a match-up of two Wright County teams in the Lady Lion Invitational last week, the host Mansfield girls basketball team defeated Mountain Grove in the Consolation semifinals, 43-38.
It appeared early that the Lady Lions would run away with a big victory after jumping out to a 20-4 first quarter lead while maintaining their 16-point halftime edge.
Mountain Grove responded though in the second half by outscoring the Lady Lions, 27-16, to close the gap to five, but they were unable to complete the comeback.
The Lady Panthers shot just 29.4% from the field in the loss.
Mansfield won the battle on the boards, 33-27.
