Joey Jay Fleetwood

Joey Jay Fleetwood, 58, of Mountain Grove, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at home, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1962 to Earl and Doris (Riley) Fleetwood in Defiance, Ohio. He grew up in New Bavaria, Ohio and graduated from Holgate High School in Holgate, Ohio. He relocated to Mountain Grove in 1980. Joe worked in construction for a short time, where he helped build log cabins, and was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker. Over the years, he worked for Brown Shoe Factory of Cabool, Wood Pro of Cabool and Webtrol, of Sunrise Beach. Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and he enjoyed smoking meat, having fish fries, playing scratch-off lottery tickets for fun and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

Joe is survived by his children, Dalton (Hope) Fleetwood, Lebanon; Mandi (Alfred) Mey, Springfield; Ashley (Josh) Hefner, Norwood; five grandchildren; three brothers, John (Bonnie) Fleetwood, of Holgate, Ohio; Lonnie (Jessica) Fleetwood, of Defiance, Ohio; and Randy (Amanda) Fleetwood, of Thayer.; four sisters, Eva (Darrell) Peabody, of Sherwood, Ohio; Lola (John) Mathieu, of Willow Springs; Lila (Fleetwood) Spence, of Mountain Grove; and Tammy (Steve) Moody, of Drury.; 20 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved dog, Puddles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Doris (Riley) Fleetwood, of Drury, and a brother, Jimmy D. Fleetwood, of Mountain Grove. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe will be placed to rest at Pleasant Home Cemetery of Drury. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
