Jerry Wayne Norwood, son of the late Albert and Lola Victoria (Denny) Norwood, was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Haskell, Okla., and departed this life Dec. 26, 2021, in Mountain Grove. He was 83 years, 4 months and 22 days of age.
Jerry grew up in Haskell and graduated with the Haskell High School Class of 1956. He enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1958. Jerry was united in marriage to Connie Cochran on Feb. 28, 1959, in Long Beach, Calif.
Three children were born to this union. Jerry enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially when cutting wood and pheasant hunting. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Wayne Norwood. Jerry is survived by one son, Jerry “Al” Norwood, of Mountain Grove; one daughter, Stacey Shaughnessy and husband, Patrick, of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Christa Senf, Ryan Shaughnessy, Luke Norwood, Aubrey Sinatra, Austin Norwood, Alyssa Norwood and Ariana Norwood; four great-grandchildren, Eric Senf, Kailana Norwood, AvaLee Norwood and Jamyson Farren Norwood; and many other friends and relatives who will miss him greatly. There are no services planned at this time.
