Janice Sue Roy

Janice Sue Roy, daughter of John and Ruby (Hutson) Dugger, was born Feb. 23, 1959 on the Wright County/ Webster County line in Missouri and she departed this life on June 5, 2021 in her home at Hartville, at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 13 days.

On Jan. 26, 2006, she was united in marriage to Norman “Dale” Roy and he survives of the home at Hartville. Also surviving are her children; Dustin Long and his wife, Lisa, of Hartville; Jeremy Long and his wife, Kelli, of Nixa; and Catrina Long, of Hartville; four grandchildren, Caleb and Ashley Long, Madalyn Wilmes and Parker Smith; a sister, Judy Thompson, of Hartville; a brother, Jerry Dugger, of Grovespring; lots of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joyce Dugger and Gail McCune; and two brothers, Jack and Joe Dugger. Janice was raised in Hartville and she graduated from Hartville High School in 1977. She was always a hard worker and she took pride in her work.

She worked many years at H.D. Lees and has worked 20 plus years as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed meeting people on her mail route, over the years those people became family and she loved them.

Janice liked reading, doing puzzles, collecting rocks and photographing sunsets; Although, spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy. Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, a caring neighbor and friend.  We celebrate her life and will treasure all the memories she helped create. Services were held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville with the Rev. Ronnie Roy.

Musicians included Deborah Hatfield, Darlene Robertson and Mark Hatfield. Musical selections were “I’ll Fly Away,” “Heaven Will Never Welcome a Sweeter Momma” and the Nitty Gritty Band’s “Fishin’ in the Dark.”

Escorts included Johnathan Dugger, John McCune, Justin McCune, James McCune, Jason McCune and Robert Thompson. The final resting place was in the Wynne Cemetery in Hartville.
