James “Dwayne” McNeil

James “Dwayne” McNeil, son of the late James Bert and Lennie (Collins) McNeil, was born March 29, 1944, in Oakland, Ark., and passed away April 12, 2023, at his residence in Mansfield. He was 79 years and 14 days of age. Dwayne grew up in Arkansas and graduated from high school in Mountain Home, Ark. He was saved at a young age and attended church as long as his health permitted. Dwayne was a truck driver for a few years and then he was a member of Operator Engineer 101 as a heavy equipment operator, but his passion was farming. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, driving down dirt roads, watching westerns, and watching his grandkids grow, but what he really loved was going to auctions. Dwayne and Janice Pope were united in marriage on June 3, 1965, and this union was blessed with four children that he loved very much. They had been married for 33 years at the time of Janice’s passing on Aug. 24, 1998. On his mother’s birthday, Nov. 4, 2000, Dwayne married Robin Hall and gained two more children, whom he loved as his own. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, daddy, papa, and brother-in-law, he will be truly missed by all.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Lennie McNeil; first wife, Janice McNeil; Janice’s parents, Marion and Mae Pope; his father-in-law, Jack Hall; brothers-in-law, Gary Hall, J L Reynolds and Monroe Pool; and sister-in-law, Sherry Hall. He is survived by his wife, Robin McNeil; six children, Pete McNeil and wife, Bertie, Julie McNeil and significant other, Charles Cowherd, Jay Baty and husband, Jeff, Joe “Pudgie” McNeil, and significant other, Deidra Wallace, Bobby Hutson and Jackie Edwards; three sisters, Cora Mae Reynolds, Mary Alice Pool and Toni Holcomb and husband, Phillip; mother-in-law, Loretta Hall; brothers-in-law, Larry Hall and wife, Laurel; and Bill Pope; 18 grandchildren, Aaron, Dalton, Jake, Sydney, Sis, Britt, Jadan, Taylore, Jordan, Austin, Ethan, Bryson, Colin, Makayla, Olivia, Toby, Christy and Travis; 24 great-grandchildren, Hoyt, Corbin, Luka, Kaidyn, Hestyn, Sophie, Easton, Blake, Jaxson, Charlie, Korvin, Lilly, Katherine, Khali, Grayson, Cameron, Landon, Ellie, Noah, Cooper, Aesa, Landon, Adelynn and Lucas,;and other relatives and friends who will miss him very much. Memorial services for James Dwayne McNeil were held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Chapel in Mansfield, with Pastor Charles Murray officiating. Song selections were “Outskirts Of Heaven,” “Five More Minutes,” “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Serving as honorary pallbearers were Aaron McNeil, Dalton McNeil, Jacob McNeil, Ethan Bujarski, Austin McNeil, Bryson Henry, Colin McNeil and Britt Keith.
