Jack Edward Berry, son of the late Robert and Myrtle (Newby) Berry, was born Feb. 22, 1938 in Hockerville, Okla., and departed this life April 30, 2023, at his home in Norwood. He was 85 years, 2 months and 8 days of age. At the age of 9, Jack moved with his family to Albuquerque, N.M., in 1947. He was united in marriage to Janice Scott on Jan. 24, 1956 in Bernalillo, N.M. The family moved back to Missouri in 1969. Jack had numerous jobs including working for a trucking company, Lewis Steel Ford, Tri-County Gas, the Wright County Sheriff Department, and retired from the Mountain Grove Police Department in 2000.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Berry, and one brother, Richard Berry. Jack leaves behind five children, Jerald Berry and wife, Judy, Joel Berry and wife, Debra, Jacqueline Leighty and husband, Vernon, John Berry and wife, Penny, and Joyce Johnston and husband, Jimmy; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; nephews; and many loved ones. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Southside Baptist Church of Mountain Grove.
