An investigation is completed regarding a recent death of a man found dead inside the Wright County Jail.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase and Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin were in charge of an investigation for the death of Daniel Moore, 44, on Feb. 11 .

According to a press release, the results of an autopsy indicated that Moore died from asphyxiation consistent with hanging himself.

The initial belief was the inmate had committed suicide.

Family members, in interviews after Moore’s death, alleged he had been beaten while in custody.

Moore was being held in Wright County Jail for violating his probation on an earlier charge of unlawful use of a weapon. It was reported that there were no apparent injuries on the body to indicate Moore was beaten.

Jail staff had found him alone in his room with a blanket tied around his neck.

According to the release, the staff tried to revive Moore, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
