Homer Glenn Wooldridge

Homer Glenn Wooldridge, son of the late Con Leondas and Dixie Mae (Ferguson) Wooldridge, was born July 14, 1936, in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life on Aug. 12, 2020, in Cox South Medical Center, Springfield. He was 84 years and 29 days of age.

Homer grew up in Mountain Grove, graduating high school in 1954. He was united in marriage to Ann Clark on May 7, 1954, in Bartlesville, Okla., on his senior skip day. Homer was a retired business owner of An-Home Distributors and L.B. Price Company. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Grand Master in 1970 at Western Light lodge No. 396 in Louisburg. Homer served in the United States Army, Company A, 54th battalion engineers from Oct. 15, 1959 to the time he returned home on Jan. 29, 1962. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with family and friends and playing the “Pick 3.”

Besides his parents, Homer was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Louise Wooldridge, and three brothers-in-law, Bill Giles, Gene Clark and LeRoy Clark. He is survived by his wife, Ann Wooldridge, of Springfield; one son, Richard “Rick” Wooldridge and wife, Teresa, of Willard; one granddaughter, Stephanie Barber and husband, Brandon, of Republic; two grandsons, Richard Wooldridge II, of Republic, and Eric Wooldridge, of Lebanon; one great-grandson, Gabriel Barber, of Republic; one sister, Carolyn Morris and husband, Dick, of Baldwin, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Giles, of Springfield; two brothers-in-law, Richard Clark, of Buffalo, and Murrell Clark, of Mountain Grove; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other relatives and countless friends, customers and acquaintances.

His presence will be missed greatly by family and friends but we find comfort in knowing he is in Heaven with all those who have gone on before him. Visitation for Homer Wooldridge was held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, from 1-2 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Josh Miller officiating. Song selections were “I Saw The Light,” “Peace In The Valley” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Joel Reed, Gary Clark, Brandon Barber, Rick Wooldridge II, Eric Wooldridge and Ryan Woods served as pallbearers. Robert Clark, Dick Clark, Stanley Clark and Carla Nelson served as honorary pallbearers. Burial with full military honors by the United States Army and American Legion Post No. 30 was held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Willow Springs, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
