Hazel Marie Lathrom, daughter of the late Orville Milton and Kate (Ledbetter) Dennis, was born April 10, 1940, in Wright County, Missouri, and passed away June 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was 81 years, 1 month and 29 days of age.
Hazel graduated with the Mountain Grove High School Class of 1957. She married Eugene “Gene” Lathrom on March 23, 1957, in Wright County. One son, Grant, was born to this union. Hazel’s love language was “acts of service.” If there was anything she could do to help you in any way, she absolutely would. She was a caring wife and two of her biggest loves in this world were her grandchildren and working in the yard. She loved to read to her grandchildren and kept everything they would draw, write or major events in their lives. She worked tirelessly in the yard; from mowing to pruning to driving fence posts to stake her trees. She loved her church and her Lord and is now with Him forever.
Besides her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Chandler. She is survived by her husband, Gene Lathrom, of Mountain Grove; her son, Grant Lathrom and his wife, Angela, of Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Lola Lathrom and her husband, Jerry, of Mountain Grove; 10 grandchildren, Levi, Kaleb, Grace, Nik, Josh, Asher, Sydney, Mercy, Verity and Silas Lathrom; and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her. Visitation for Hazel Lathrom was held Monday, June 14, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Justin Lawson officiating.
Song selections were “In The Sweet By and By” and “Sheltered In The Arms Of God” sung by Jennifer Lawson and Diane Oliphant. Doyle Lathrom, Terry Lathrom, Ronnie Lathrom, Jr., Rodney Lathrom, Rob Crewse and Steven Coble served as pallbearers. Dale Melton served as honorary pallbearer.
