Hartville wins Springfield R-12 Winter Classic title

When the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the creation of the Springfield R-12 Winter Classic offered an opportunity for the two best Class 3 teams to go head-to-head in Hartville and Greenwood.

Snow coming down in the Ozarks area was not going to stop any of the fans from attending the big game at JQH Arena.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they were able to hold Georgetown University signee Aminu Mohammed to just eight points and dominated the Blue Jays, 48-31.

In adding wins over both Kickapoo and Sunrise Christian Academy in the three day tournament, Hartville officially won the Springfield R-12 Winter Classic title.

“The boys put together three great games this week,” said Hartville head coach Brett Reed. “Their focus, energy and toughness was evident throughout the tournament. This group is special. They have earned the respect of southwest Missouri this week. We have much more to accomplish!”
