Hartville wins four district titles

Hartville’s track and field program had several athletes earn a top four finish in the Class 2, District 5 meet to earn a spot in next week’s Sectionals meet.

For the Eagles, both the 4x400 (3:37.53) and 4x800 (8:36.84) won district titles.

Joshua Bettendorf won a district title in the 400 meters with a time of 53.72.

Blake Lansdown was second in the shot put (9.73m) while Bryce Coday qualified in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.32.

Earning team points included Keegan Kirkpatrick in the 400 meters (56.08), Weston Williams took fifth in the 800 meters (2:16.49), Zachary Jones was fifth in the javelin (28.78m), Josiah Bettendorf was seventh in the 200 (25.47) and Caleb Long took eighth in the 3,200 meters (12:33.33).

As for the Lady Eagles, the 4x200-meter relay team won the district title with a time of 1:56.66.

The 4x400 was second (4:37.72) and Clemme Taylor took second in the 800 meters (2:40.09).

The 4x100 qualified by taking fourth (57.04). Benedikte Lauritzen was fourth in the 200 meters (32.07).

Lauritzen also earned points in the 100 meters by taking sixth (16.14).

Abigail Moseley was eighth overall in the 1,600 meters (7:01.22).

Elizabeth Nichols just missed earning points as she was ninth in the shot put (5.54m).

Before districts, Hartville participated among 40 other district teams in a meet held at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.

For the Lady Eagles, the 4x400-meter relay team was seventh (4:37.43). Almost earning team points were the 4x200 (1:59.74) and Clemmie Taylor in the 800 meters (2:40.86). Both were in ninth place.

The 4x800-meter relay team led the boys team as they won the race with a time of 8:38.57.

Just missing team points was the 4x400-meter relay team, who was ninth (3:45.55).
