Hartville Lady Eagles win Summit Conference title

The Summitt Conference championship returned to Hartville last week when the Lady Eagles knocked off Gainesville to win their first title since the 2013-2014 season.

Hartville’s win moved their record to 15-6 on the season, setting them up for a strong postseason run.

Against a Gainesville team that handed them a loss six games earlier in the season, pitcher Rami Murr kept the Lady Bulldogs’ offense in check. She allowed just one earned run on nine hits with six strikeouts in a 4-1 victory.

McKinley Sanders and Molly Brown each had one RBI; Breyanna Flachsmann scored twice; and both Centauri Todd and Jenna Kelley scored one run.

Prior to the big win, the Lady Eagles outscored Bakersfield and Stoutland, 26-3, in a pair of victories. The Lady Eagles scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to seal the Bakersfield win behind a 12-hit attack. Sanders had three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored while Allexus Walker added three hits, three RBIs and one run scored. Todd had two hits, one RBI and scored three times; Flachsmann, Kelley and Emma Cook each had one RBI and two runs scored; both Zoey Jordan and Emilee Coday had one RBI; while Brown scored one run.

Murr tossed five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts.

Against Stoutland on the road, the Lady Eagles scored 11 runs in the top of the third inning to pull away for a 12-2 win.

Cook had two RBIs and two runs scored while Todd had one RBI and scored three times. Both Kelley and Flachsmann had two RBIs and one run scored; while Walker, Brown Coday and Sanders each had one RBI and one run scored.

Murr picked up another win after allowing one earned run on four hits with one strikeout.

One week earlier, the Lady Eagles defeated Laquey, 13-3, as they scored seven runs in the fourth inning.

Cook had three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored while Sanders had two RBIs and one run scored. Coday tallied two hits, three RBIs and one run scored; both Flachsmann and Walker scored twice; Kelley had one RBI and one run scored; Todd scored three times; and Jordan had one RBI.

Murr tossed six innings and allowed one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts. Flachsmann tossed one inning of shutout ball and struck out one.

Hartville also picked up a Family Pharmacy championship by winning the tournament in Norwood.

They opened things with a 3-1 win over Van Buren as they held off a late Lady Dawgs charge, who scored one run in their final at-bat.

Murr tossed a complete game shutout as she gave up six hits and struck out two.

Kelley and Jordan each had RBIs. Cook scored twice and Flachsmann scored once.

Against a Willow Springs team they split two previous meetings with, the Lady Eagles scored at least one run every inning on their way to a 13-6 win behind a 13-hit attack. Todd had two RBIs and three runs scored; Walker had two RBIs and two runs scored; both Cook and Sanders had two RBIs and one run scored; Kelley and Flachsmann each had one RBI and one run scored; Jordan had three hits and three RBIs; while Jolina Bettendorf, Coday and Brown each scored one run.

Murr tossed seven innings and allowed one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts.
