Hartville’s 4x800-meter relay team nearly completed a dream season at the Class 2 State Championships last Saturday in Jefferson City as they finished second place overall with at time of 8:21.35.
They earned All-State honors with the finish and just missed winning a state title by eight seconds as Father Tolton’s squad went on to win the championship.
The team features Josiah Bettendorf, Weston Williams, Joshua Bettendorf and Bryce Coday.
Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter relay team also earned All-State honors after their eighth place finish with a time of 3:34.37. They were just .15 seconds off a seventh place time from a Monroe City squad.
That squad includes Eli Cook, Ryce Piper, Joshua Bettendorf and Coday.
Joshua Bettendorf finished 10th overall in the competitive 400-meter dash with his time of 52.95.
As for the Lady Eagles, the 4x200-meter relay team was 15th overall with at time of 1:55.56.
The 4x200 squad includes runners McKinley Sanders, Clemmie Taylor, Hannah Keith and Emma Cook.
