Glenn Harold Riggs, 87, peacefully passed away on Dec. 27, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Glenn was born on July 9, 1934, in Brixey. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1952. Glenn married Leila Mae Lakey on June 5, 1954. He worked at Coca-Cola and Walker Lauder Milk Company, and then worked as a truck driver. Glenn worked at Kansas City Electric Supply Company. He worked his way up to manager and worked there until he retired.

Glenn was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Leila Mae Riggs, of Mountain Grove; his son, Ed Riggs, of Independence; two sisters, Dorothy Gleason and Donna LaRose, both of Mountain Grove; and many well-loved aunts, uncles and friends. Glenn is survived by his sons, Thomas Lloyd Riggs and spouse, Darlene, of Springfield; and David James Riggs and spouse, Sheila, of Mountain Grove; grandson, Zane T. Riggs and spouse, Brooke, of Raymore; granddaughter, Zoie E. Riggs, of Raymore; granddaughter, Amanda Dean Riggs, of Kansas City; four great-grandchildren, Malachi Flanagan, Harper Riggs, Lincoln Bick and Carson Riggs; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Kay Menefee, of Independence. Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021, at Crag-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Allen Pritchard officiating. Song selections were “Long Black Train,” “Farside Banks Of Jordan” and “Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Billy Melton, Danny Mackey, Reggie Walker, Ryan Fields and James Muns. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove. Memorial contributions may be made the American Cancer Society in care of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
