First ever of its kind retreat to be located in the Ozarks

Fundraising effort underway with help of The American Cup in Mountain Grove

Posted

Hero’s Rest is the first retreat of its kind for first responders in the United States and it will soon be located south of Mountain Grove. It is a near 55-acre location located south of Highway 95 and going west four to five miles on Highway 76.

Hero’s Rest will provide gifted camping stays and other outdoor activities to first responders (law enforcement, firefighters, EMS) and military (active and veteran) along with their families, at no cost. It will open to first responders from anywhere in the nation.

The staff facilities are built and a lake is currently being constructed along with camp sites. The goal is for the location to open in the fall, providing first responders with a space on the property for fishing and hiking.

“They don’t have to go through a program,” said supporter and The American Cup owner/member Dennis Martin. “They can just come down there to relax. Counseling is available as well. The whole concept is fabulous.”
