Evelyn Marie Giles, daughter of the late Alfred W. and Ethel (Price) Clark, was born Sep. 23, 1926, in Vanzant, and departed this life July 31, 2021, in Springfield. She was 94 years, 10 months and 7 days of age. Evelyn grew up and attended school in Douglas County. She was united in marriage to William Giles in November of 1957 in Mississippi. After William retired from the United States Navy, they made their home in Rogersville. After William’s passing in 2012, Evelyn moved in with her sister, Ann Wooldridge. She enjoyed gardening and garage sales. Evelyn was a loving wife, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend. She is survived by one brother, Dick Clark of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation for Evelyn Giles was held Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bud Scherer officiating. Song selections were “When We All Get To Heaven,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “Standing On The Promises.”

Gary Clark, Tyler Clark, Josi Clark, Matt Clark, Stanley Clark and Ryan Woods served as pallbearers. Hunter Szahowski, Garrett Clark, and Galvin Hungerford served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, Drury, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
