Emma Jean Talbot

Emma Jean Talbot, daughter of Jackson Davis Hopkins and Georgia Wilson, was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Humboldt, Kan., and departed this life on March 9, 2020, at Nixa Nursing and Rehab in Nixa, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 26 days. Emma graduated high school from Norwood in 1951. On Dec. 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Bennie Talbot. To this union, one son was born. Emma was an exceptional seamstress and made beautiful quilts. Emma was a member of the Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild and was a past president. Emma taught school at Nixa East Elementary School. She enjoyed teaching for many years.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie, who died in 2011, and by her son, Roger, who died in 2018. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Esther Jones, of Mountain Grove, and Patsy Johnson, of Orogrande, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews and friends who will miss her greatly. Graveside Memorial services for Emma Talbot will be held Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, with the Rev.
