Edith Ann Moore, daughter of Willard and Emma Lou LaFollette Matney, was born Oct. 23, 1967, in Marshfield, and left this Earth for her heavenly home on April 30, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield at the age of 53 years, 6 months and 7 days. On Oct. 14, 1983, she was united in marriage to Rex Allen Moore, and they had two beautiful children, Jeffrey and Amber. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Connie West and Sue Langston; two half-brothers, Bill Cassy and Dale Cantrell; half-sister Frances Stevens; grandson, Brison Cole Coffman; and two nephews, Lonnie Bell and Christopher Cassy. Edith is survived by her friend and companion, Tim Rhodes, of Nixa; son, Jeffrey Moore and wife, Carrie, of Thornfield; daughter, Amber Collins, of Seymour; six Nana’s Babies, Patricia, Trinity, Emilee, Whitney, Hunter and Emmylou; two sisters, Debra Henry and Joyce Perrin and husband, Bob, all of Mansfield; brother-in-law, Gene West, of Ozark; two sisters-in-law, Jeannie Cassy, of Ava, and Penny Cantrell, of Ozark; a special niece, Jessica Parsons of Mansfield, as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. She grew up in Mansfield and attended Mansfield Schools. She lived and worked here for many years before moving to Nixa, where she lived at the time of her passing. Edith was a hard worker. She started out as a volunteer at Ozark Action Headstart, working her way up to Social Services/Teachers Assistant and substitute bus driver for many years. She also worked at MFA Oil as secretary/bookkeeper and Hamilton Properties for several years, often having a second job as a cashier at Lazy Lees, selling Home Interiors or cleaning houses. She did what she had to do to provide for her kids as a single mom. In her spare time, Edith loved spending time with her grandbabies, family and friends, trips to the lake and making us all laugh. She enjoyed decorating her home, especially during the holidays, doing arts and crafts, and repurposing things, either to sell or give to someone in need. Edith loved helping people, especially the homeless. She had a unique collection of skull items, and was always looking for more. Edith was a very special loving and caring mom, nana, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor to all. She will always be loved and remembered with love, laughter, and a huge smile, that would light up any room. We celebrate her life today and all the memories we will cherish forever. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Holman-Howe Funeral Chapel in Mansfield with Pastor Ronnie Roy. Recorded musical selections included “Delta Dawn,” “How They Remember You,” “I Won’t Let Go” and “Victory in Jesus.”Honorary escorts were Mike Matlock, Tim Rhodes, Bradley Henry and Joseph Bell. Escorts were Michael Perrin, Bob Perrin, Shannon Matney, Darron Nichols, Rodney Cantrell and Jarrett Nichols. The final resting place was in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery in Seymour.
