Winning a district title for any basketball program is a special accomplishment for school districts and their communities.

Very few programs in the history of high school basketball in Missouri will ever get to celebrate what the Hartville Eagles boys basketball team achieved last Friday night when they won their ninth district championship in a row.

In a game played on Mansfield’s home court, the No. 1 seeded Eagles held off a scrappy Strafford Indians’ team, 55-32, to win the Class 3, District 10 title. Hartville’s win improved their record to 27-0 on the season.

“This program, with its tradition along with the school and community support, is second to none,” said Hartville head coach Brett Reed on his Facebook post after the big win. “These kids and this team are nothing short of extraordinary. What a blessing to be part of this, nine straight district championships! Let us not forget this decade of excellence and resilience by all of these young men that have poured their heart and souls into Hartville basketball. Thank you all for your support of our program and these young men! We are Hartville!”
