Donald Arch Reece, Sr.

Donald Arch Reece, Sr., 74, of Vanzant, met his savior face to face when he moved to heaven on Nov. 6, 2021 after a battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 10, 1946 in Vanzant, the son of William Noble and Nancy Loretta (Mullins) Reece. Donald was raised in the Vanzant area and graduated from Cabool High School with the Class of 1965. Donald joined the Marines after graduation and bravely served his country; receiving 15 ribbons and medals of honor during his military career of 20 plus years. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and was active in the Boy Scout Troops No. 270 and No. 50 for many years.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two nephews; and a niece. He is survived by a sister, Bertha Tilley, of Cabool; his sons, Donald Reece, Jr and wife, Kelly, of Georgia, and Derek Reece, stationed at Fort Riley, Kan.; his daughters, Deanna Hindmon and husband, Tracy, of Georgia, and Jessica Robertson and husband, Clinton, of Norwood; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Donald was a loving father and a good friend to all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed; until we meet again my daddy, my friend-We love you. Graveside services were at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery with Pastor Judy Talbert officiating. Pallbearers were Donald Reece, Jr, Derek Reece, Tracy Hindmon, Brandon Martin, Scott Grogan and Clinton Robertson. Interment with full military honors was in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
