Though the Mansfield Lady Lions basketball team’s season came to an end in the first round of districts last year, the team had a lot of momentum as they won five of their final seven contests.
Mansfield finished with a 13-11 record and shared the conference title with Hartville and Gainesville.
Returning to this year’s squad are All-Conference players Logan Jones, Lauren Jones and Haley Tripp.
Logan Jones averaged 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while Lauren Jones returns after averaging 10.6 points per game.
Other key returners include senior Madalyn Ivy and Macie Tate. Key newcomers to this year’s squad include Haven Tripp and Elly Williams.
The key to this year’s success will be the Lady Lions’ defense.
Winning the opener
The Mansfield Lady Lions did win their home opener on Nov. 22 with a solid 66-45 win over Bakersfield.
