Cross country teams shine in Fordland

The Hartville, Mansfield and Norwood cross country programs competed last week in the Iron Mountain Run held in Fordland.

Hartville

The Eagles continued their impressive season by earning the spot as the top team in the Fordland race for team points.

Four Hartville runners placed in the Top-15 in the a meet featuring around 10 programs.

Josh Bettendorf finished fifth overall with a time of 17:41.90 followed by Bryce Coday’s sixth place time of 17:47.27. Josiah Bettendorf was ninth (18:03.72), Weston Williams placed 15th (18:53.45) and Keegan Kirkpatrick rounded out the Top-20 with an 18th place time of 19:01.79.

Other runners included Caleb Long (19:38.60), Jacob Ballard (20:19.72), Eric Wilson (21:05.41), Ty Smith (21:13.84) and Rory Kirkpatrick (24:21.35).

As for the Lady Eagles, they finished fourth place overall as a team.

Clemmie Taylor was the top finisher as she placed sixth with a time of 22:29.05. Courtney Miller was 17th (25:29.79) and Abby Moseley earned a spot in the Top-20 with her 19th place time of 25:40.96. Other runners include Emma Cook, in 23rd place with a time of 26:25.09, and Kaylee Ferguson (30:31.09).

Mansfield

The addition of some softball players helped the Mansfield Lady Lions earn second place overall in the race.

Skylar Adams was less than a second from finishing as runner-up after taking third with a time of 21:26.26.

Logan Jones took ninth place overall with a time of 24:10.52 while Caige Henry was 16th with a time of 24:54.22. Lauren Jones just missed the Top-20 when she took 21st with a time of 25:53.72. Other runners included Hailey Nelson (30:42.92), Chloe Lemons (31:41.48) and Trinnity Davis (31:41.71).

The Lions were eighth place as a team in the event.

Brady Corder led Mansfield with his 14th place time of 18:48.53. Other finishers include Brock Gray (20:54.53), Bryce Bolfing (21:04.23), Landon Campbell (23:01.71), Brayden Barnett (23:10.99), Jake McDermitt (24:10.10), Trey Ussery (25:24.88) and Clayton Price (28:31.47).

Norwood

As a team, the Norwood Pirates finished ninth place overall.

Cameron Jarrett paced the Pirates with a 19th place time of 19:06.37. Other finishers include Ben Smith (20:12.59), Gabe Todd (21:33.60), Cameron Kelly (22:15.07) and Braden Brown (30:37.23). As for the Lady Pirates, Lydia Smith finished in 25th place (26:36.17).
