County teams change class, districts

When the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) provided enrollment breakdowns for the 2020-2021 season, many boys and girls basketball teams found themselves changing in class size.

The defending Class 2 state champions have moved to Class 3, District 10 where the host will be Strafford. The Eagles are joined by Conway, Fair Grove, Mansfield and Sparta. This is the same list of teams for the girls as well.

Hartville (182) and Mansfield (168) made the move due to their enrollments falling between 145-258 students.

Mountain Grove’s boys and girls basketball teams have moved up from Class 3 to Class 4, District 11 and will host this year’s tournament. Enrollment’s locked int at 315.

The other teams in the district include Ava, Forsyth, Hollister, Liberty (Mountain View), Springfield Catholic and Willow Springs. This class has enrollment of 261-529.

Norwood (94) is moving up from a Class 1 to a Class 2 program and it will host Class 2, District 10.

Teams with enrollment between 79-144 also include Bakersfield, Dora, Gainesville, Seymour and Summersville.

District play begins in some locations on Feb. 20.
